Rural Enterprise and Net Zero
In late 2023 Ayrshire Rural and Islands Ambitions (ARIA) granted us funding towards our project of growing our business from concept to full delivery. Funding for this project enabled our business to continue to thrive whilst providing community benefits, boosting sustainable rural tourism locally and achieve green targets. We hope to become considered as the blueprint for eco-tourism in South Ayrshire. We are forever grateful for the assistance, belief and support from ARIA.
01
Renewable Energy
One of the first goals for the project was to grow our solar renewable energy solution. Our solar panel array was expanded to 3.5kW, and our battery storage expanded to 11kW.
The panels are in a perfect unobstructed, south-facing site. Beyond powering the glamping pods, they also power the alpaca stable building, feed storage, AED Defib point and EV Charge Station.
02
Green Transport & Net Zero
We are very passionate about our guests being able to enjoy the beautiful surrounding countryside and to be able to do this while being mindful of our carbon footprint we invested grant funding in a fleet of high spec bikes.
For those wanting assistance or wanting to extend their day trip range we have two Lapierre Overvolt Hardtail Mountain bikes (with a range of 70 miles per charge). And for those wanting to push themselves on the hills we have two amazing Lapierre ProRace 4.9 Mountain Bikes. We are based right by the side of National Cycle Route 7.
03
Elevating Our Site
Nestled in the Girvan valley at the gateway to the Galloway Forest, Little Peru is designed to give you a unique, off grid, luxury escape. Funding from ARIA provided us the opportunity to finish our site to our high, exacting standards, plant native flora and fauna and provide a top class experience for our guests. Funding helped cover a range of costs including fencing, gates, the alpaca feed store and outdoor furniture.
04
Brand Awareness & Marketing
As a new business it is critical for us to raise brand awareness. We have both a local customer base for alpaca trekking and a wider customer base for the glamping pods. We have directed funding towards a number of projects aimed at raising our brand awareness including having our vehicle and trailer branded, a digital marketing campaign, signage and a whole range of marketing materials. This should enable us to raise our online and offline presence in our ambition to become the blueprint for sustainable day and overnight tourism in South Ayrshire.
